Thousands Gather as PHILUSA Supports Mercury Drug Foundation’s WNCDA Awareness 2026 in Bacolod

Before the first light settled over the City of Smiles, clusters of participants had already begun filling the grounds of The District North Point in Talisay City, Bacolod, Negros Occidental, for Mercury Drug Foundation’s 14th edition of the Walk for the Noncommunicable Diseases Awareness (WNCDA) 2026 held last May 17.
At exactly 5:00 AM, participants kicked off the morning with an energizing Zumba warm-up session before the annual advocacy walk commenced, drawing health advocates, families, corporate partners, and community members into a shared campaign promoting healthier lifestyles and greater awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, chronic respiratory illnesses, and mental health awareness.

This year’s edition carried a distinct atmosphere. After previous runs held in Luzon, the event made its way to Visayas, where Bacolod’s trademark warmth and community spirit shaped the morning’s activities. More than 2,000 participants dotted the 3-kilometer route surrounding the venue, arriving in WNCDA-branded shirts while carrying kits containing a bib, drawstring bag, and hygiene essentials that included products from PHILUSA Corporation. Each kilometer was represented by a colored string knot bracelet, with yellow for the 1st km, white for the 2nd km, and red for the 3rd km.

The advocacy extended beyond the walk itself. Across the venue, attendees patiently lined up at the booths of the event’s 50 sponsors, which offered healthy treats and wellness items centered on preventive healthcare and healthier everyday habits.
A longtime supporter of the initiative, PHILUSA Corporation further supported the event through a booth featuring its product lines. The company distributed a wide range of wellness and personal care products from its trusted brands. Giveaways from the PHILUSA booth included Cleene CLIO Toothbrush All-Around OPP, Cleene CLIO Compact 8000 toothbrushes, Cleene Absorbent Cotton 10g, Cleene Hand Sanitizer Zest 60mL with carabiner, and Cleene Ethyl Alcohol 70% 60mL. Attendees also received Babyflo Gentle Buds White 36s, Babyflo Powder, Babyflo Wipes 30s, RHEA Superscent Sparomatic 25mL, MEDIPLAST samplers, and MEDIPLAST Fabric Strips.

Beyond the festive atmosphere, the gathering served as a continuing reminder that conversations about preventive healthcare remain necessary and timely. For PHILUSA, participation in programs centered on health and wellness remains part of the company’s continuing support for Filipino communities through accessible hygiene and healthcare products, alongside initiatives that encourage healthier everyday routines.
