PHILUSA Corporation and Manila Water Foundation Celebrate 2024 Global Handwashing Day at La Mesa Ecopark
In celebration of the 2024 Global Handwashing Day, PHILUSA Corporation has once again supported the Manila Water Foundation and united for a sustainability event on October 15 at La Mesa Ecopark in Barangay Greater Lagro, Quezon City. The event was hosted by the Manila Water Foundation, led by its Program Operations Manager, Mr. Nathaniel George Hipolito, and Accounts Development and Demand Creation Manager, Ms. Monina Montepiedra.
This year’s theme, “Why are Clean Hands Still Important?” highlighted the role of proper handwashing in combating communicable diseases such as flu, Covid-19, and Mpox. Community members from Barangay Greater Lagro, local officials from the Quezon City Local Government 5th District, and Congressman Patrick Manuel Vargas were among those who took part in the program.
As a key partner of the Manila Water Foundation, PHILUSA Corporation supplied essential hygiene and sanitation products for the occasion. During the program, the Manila Water Foundation team conducted an engaging handwashing demonstration, guiding attendees through the seven steps of proper handwashing. This was followed by a ceremonial handwashing activity, which reinforced the importance of maintaining good hygiene as the most basic means to safeguard the communities.
To make this year’s participation even more meaningful, PHILUSA Corporation also took part in a tree-planting activity to promote environmental health, guided by Mr. Chris Murphy Amparo, Operations Manager of La Mesa Ecopark. The PHILUSA team planted Yakal and Narra trees to promote biodiversity and help address the climate crisis. “We embrace sustainability sa aming stratehiya. Natutuwa po kami na ngayong araw na ito, hindi lang kami kasama ng Manila Water Foundation sa Global Handwashing Day, ngunit pati sa tree planting initiative,” Mr. Evangelista shared.
Through its active participation and community-driven support, PHILUSA Corporation strengthened its commitment to promoting the well-being of Filipino families through hygiene education and environmental conservation efforts.
